ஊரின் தேவைகளும் உமரின் சேவைகளும்
உமர் படிக்கும் காலங்களில் பல பொழுது போக்குகளில் ஈடுபட்டிருந்தார். முதலில் அவரது கவனம் ரேடியோவின் பக்கம்தான் திரும்பியது. பத்திரிகைகளில் வரும் ‘ரேடியோ செய்வது எப்படி?’ என்ற கட்டுரையைப் படித்து, டிரான்சிஸ்டர் உதிரி பாகங்களை கடையிலிருந்து வாங்கி சிறிய சாக்பீஸ் பெட்டியில் ரேடியோ செய்தார். அதில் வெற்றியும் கண்டார். படிப்பில் கவனமில்லையே என்று நாங்கள் முனுமுனுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் அதே வேளையில் வாசலில் அவரது ரேடியோ முனுமுனுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும்.
